Description / Abstract: Introduction

Note: Nothing in this standard supercedes applicable laws and regulations.

Note: In the event of conflict between the English and domestic language, the English language shall take precedence.

Purpose. This standard serves to determine the aging characteristics of polymer interior components which are subject to increased safety requirements in the vehicle, e.g. airbag deployment.

This test serves only as a preparation for safety tests, e.g., airbag deployment. It does not represent an element of routine testing or production-related tests.

The application of this test to complex assemblies or entire vehicles makes it possible to establish the interactions between various materials within a component or between several components.

Applicability. Polymer interior components which are subject to increased safety requirements in the vehicle, e.g. airbag deployment.

Remarks. By comparing the impact resistance prior to and following accelerated aging, the changes in characteristics caused thereby permit an appraisal of the behavior of the polymer components during use
